Join us for an in-person artist talk with mixed media artist Kimberly M. Becoat, as she discusses her solo exhibition, URBANIA.

Using Black cultural production as a mechanism for reclamation through the lens of public housing, viewers are afforded the artist's undeniable social commentary on liberation, cultural preservation, and her insatiable call to restorative play. Black-Owned Brooklyn that chronicles the birth, rise and legacy of The East, a pan-African cultural organization founded in 1969 by teens and young adults in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. The panel discussion will be moderated by C. Zawadi Morris and will feature Cynthia Gordy Giwa and Tayo Giwa (the directors), Kweli Campbell, and Mark Winston Griffith.
